Greeva Vasti is a Sanskrit term where Greeva stands for Neck and Vasti stands for “holding something”. In Greeva Vasti, a paste made out of medicated oil and flour is applied on the back of the neck, lower back, etc. Greeva Vasti is done in the morning if Kapha Dosha is dominant in body, at noon if Pitta Dosha is dominant, and in the evening if Vata Dosha is dominant. While performing Greeva Vasti, the patient should have an empty stomach as he/she needs to lie down for a significant amount of time.

How is Greeva Vasti done?
There’s a leak-proof reservoir made of gram dough that is built on the neck till 2-3 vertebrae. A lukewarm medicinal oil, which strengthens bones and alleviates pain, is slowly poured into it. When the temperature of the oil falls down, it is squeezed out with cotton gauze. This process is repeated a few times to make an impact.
